In Season 1 Episode 3, titled "McCarthy," Larry tackles four distinct eras where massive historical milestones collide with his usual flair. Dursin and Clay kick off the chat with local Boston history and a Tea Party knowledge drop. Lin-Manuel Miranda stars as Tea Party ringleader Michael Finney, icing out Larry the barrel maker for wearing a Redcoat-style velvet jacket. J.B. Smoove plays Jonesy, an escaping slave who moves into Larry’s house on the Underground Railroad and institutes a 400-year ban on asking for favors. Jon Hamm and Sean Hayes play the Wright brothers, forcing Larry into a middle seat on a peach crate while debating circus peanuts and deplaning protocol. Finally, Larry plays Senator Joe McCarthy, accusing political rivals of communist tendencies for leaving ring stains on tables without using a coaster.
